Prince Edward Elementary isn’t the only school set to be renovated soon. Fuqua School has announced plans to build a brand new Upper School on the campus. Head of School Paul Reynolds made the announcement on Friday afternoon, showing some of the designs for the new project.
“This landmark of learning will feature state-of-the-art classrooms for grades 7-12, enhanced safety features, administrative offices, and community spaces,” Reynolds said. “This building project is not just a response to our current needs but a pivotal step in our broader vision for the future of Fuqua. The construction of a new facility is a significant milestone, and it is part of a larger, ongoing effort to plan thoughtfully for the future of our school.”
In a letter sent to parents of current students and also posted on the school’s Facebook page, Reynolds said Fuqua is committed to working with students, parents, faculty and alumni to develop and refine the school’s strategic priorities.
This is a three-year project, Reynolds said, with $2.5 million raised already in private donations and pledges. He plans to raise another $3.5 million over those next three years, to make this happen.
“Occasionally in life, we are presented with the opportunity to do great things,” Reynolds said. “The opportunity to change lives and lift others up. The opportunity to make a real impact and leave a legacy for generations to come.”
This is one of those opportunities, he added, saying the project gives students in Prince Edward and the surrounding area a chance to soar.
“This building is a crucial component of our broader mission to prepare our students not only for academic success but also for lives of purpose, character, and impact,” Reynolds said.
A Q & A session for Fuqua
Reynolds said for anyone with questions about the project, an information session will take place next month. That’ll be held on Friday, Sept. 6 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Gilmer Gym on the Fuqua campus. If that date seems familiar to Fuqua students and staff, it’s because the information session immediately precedes the first home football game of the year, which will be against Greenbrier Christian.
