The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@TheCharlotteGazette.com.

AUG. 28- 30 

REVIVAL – St. Louis Baptist Church in Charlotte Court House will hold revival services from Aug. 28 to Aug. 30. Services will begin at 7 p.m. nightly, with a different speaker each night. 

SEPTEMBER 1

GUEST PREACHER – St. Andrews Baptist Church, located at 2100 Taro Road in Cullen, will host a guest preacher on Sunday, Sept. 1. Rev. Rosa Bedford will preach the 11 a.m. worship service. 

SEPTEMBER 3 

BEEKEEPERS MEETING – The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office. That’s at 100 Dominion Drive in Farmville. The program will be “This Bee Year: Past, Present and Future.” Anyone interested in bees or who owns bees is welcome. SEPTEMBER 4 

MUSEUM TOURS — The Central High Museum will be open for tours from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The museum is located at 401 Thomas Jefferson Highway in Charlotte Court House.

SEPTEMBER 6 

STORYTIME — The Charlotte County Library will hold Summer Storytime at its Wylliesburg branch on Friday, Sept. 6, beginning at 11 a.m. The library is located on Highway 15.

SEPTEMBER 7 

VFD BBQ – Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Chicken & Pig BBQ on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Plates are $12 and include BBQ chicken or pork, with baked beans, coleslaw, bread and a drink. Desserts are also available. 

SEPTEMBER 10 

STORYTIME — The Charlotte County Library will hold Summer Storytime for All Ages at its Charlotte Court House branch on Tuesday, Sept. 10, beginning at 11 a.m. The library is located at 112- 116 LeGrande Avenue.

BLOOD DRIVE – Midway Baptist Church will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Both old friends and newcomers are welcome. That’ll be held at 2595 Midway Road in Phenix from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

SEPTEMBER 14

FALL STEW – Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 2597 Bruceville Road in Meherrin, will hold its annual fall stew on Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 1 p.m. A Brunswick-style chicken stew will be sold by the bowl or quart for $10. Supplies will be limited, so it’ll operate on a first come, first serve basis. 

SEPTEMBER 19 

STORYTIME — The Charlotte County Library will hold Summer Storytime for All Ages at its Phenix branch on Thursday, Sept. 19 beginning at 11 a.m. The library is located on Charlotte Street.

SEPTEMBER 25

FALL STORYTIME — The Charlotte County Library will hold Fall Storytime for All Ages at its Keysville branch on Wednesday, Sept. 25, beginning at 11 a.m. The library is located at 300 King Street.

CALENDAR: UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

WEEKLY WORSHIP – Tabernacle Baptist Church will hold Sunday School every Sunday at 10 a.m. except 5th Sundays. Services start at 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Sunday of the month. 

WOMEN’S MINISTRY WORSHIP – A worship service with Confident Women Ministry is held every Sunday at 3 p.m. online via conference call. Services are led by Rev. Loretta Bailey and anyone is invited to call 1-657-390-7012 to take part.

MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch holds worship services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month Masks are required. The Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.

SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH – Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 125 Shiloh Church Road in Drakes Branch holds services every Sunday at 10 a.m. Rev. Dr. Horace B. Parham Jr. is the pastor. All are welcome. 

AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 5104 Double Bridges Road in Meherrin. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Joe Reid at (808)-927-8910. 

ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen holds worship services at 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. the first, second, third and fourth Sundays. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church holds services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.

HEBRON CHURCH — Hebron Church located at 111 Hebron Church Road in Saxe holds in-person services at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday.

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix worship service is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. There will be no Sunday school.

CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal worship service is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning. There will be no Sunday school.
