Central Middle School’s volleyball team finished their season strong. The girls defeated Cumberland to finish the regular season at 11-1, good enough to be named Western Division champions for the 2024 season. Then on Saturday, Oct. 19, the Bobcats defeated Mecklenburg, securing a spot in the Southside Middle School Conference (SMSC) tournament finals. After that, Central Middle handled business yet again, defeating Powhatan in the championship game to earn the title of SMSC Champions. This marks the second year in a row that the Bobcats have won the conference title. To be clear, we’re talking about a bit of history, as this is just the second time a Central Middle volleyball team has won both titles. Last season marked the first time. Before that, the closest a Central Middle volleyball team came was in 2007, as they were the Western Division Champions and SMSC tournament runner-ups.
