Brown named to national softball association

Longwood softball head coach Dr. Megan Brown has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Board of Directors, the organization announced Monday.
Brown, who is in her fifth season at Longwood, will serve a three-year term as the NFCA’s Vice President for Education, beginning Jan. 1, 2025, and is of three first-time board members. Brown joins California junior college representative Marian “Speedy” Mendoza of Fullerton College and travel ball representative Suzy Willemssen from Virginia Glory.
The rest of the board is comprised of Vice President for Membership Renae Hartl (Luther), NCAA Division II representative Megan Corriea (Cal Poly Humboldt) and Assistant Coach Representative Boo De Oliveira (Notre Dame), who have previously served on the board in other capacities.
Outgoing board members, Vice Presidents Craig Snider, Tennessee (Education) and Now-Allah James (Membership), along with group representatives Les Stuedeman, Alabama Huntsville (NCAA Division II), Gabrielle Brixey, West Hills Coalinga (Cal JC), Frank Ehrenfeld, Pennsbury Gems (travel ball) and Heather Gelbard, Purdue (Assistant Coach) will be recognized for their service during the Awards Brunch on Dec. 7 at the NFCA Convention in Dallas, Texas.
In four seasons in Farmville, Brown is 111-106 overall, including 61-25 in Big South play with two regular-season league championships.
