Robert Garnett “Bobby” Clowdis Sr.Robert Garnett “Bobby” Clowdis Sr., 91, of Red House, died Sunday, Feb. 2, at his residence. He was the husband of Shirley Faye Hendricks Clowdis for 69 years.

Born in Charlotte County on March 5, 1933, he was a son of the late Ethel Ellyson Clowdis and Frank M. Clowdis. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Bobby served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany. Early in life he was a tobacco farmer and then worked for Central Virginia Maintenance/Colonial Pipeline. Bobby enjoyed raising a garden and watching things grow.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by two children, Robert G. Clowdis Jr. and wife, Annette and Martha Sue Hamlett and husband, Phillip; four grandchildren, Robert G. Clowdis III and wife, Sarah, Zachary T. Clowdis and wife, Jessica, Noah A. Hamlett and wife, Abbey, and Chrisitan G. Hamlett; five great-grandchildren, Hailey, T. C., Trevor, Collyns and Maeve; a brother, William Clowdis and wife, Peggy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ned Clowdis and four sisters, Nancy Carol Mitchell, Marie Harper, Beth Johnson and Anne Crawley.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, at Providence Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Duane Seagle and Pastor Ralph Moore. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
