Roy E. Blankinship Jr., passed away April 17, at 8:17 a.m. The Earth stopped to let the soul of Roy E. Blankinship exit. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy E. Blankinship Sr.; his mother, Jamie Estelle Miller Blankinship; and two brothers, Harold “Jim” and Albert “Al”.
Roy was an U.S. Air Force Veteran and served in Vietnam.
He leaves behind a daughter, Tammy; son, Scott and numerous grandchildren. He also leaves behind a special friend and caregiver, Mary H. Jackson of Drakes Branch. She accompanied and cared for him for the past 14 years.
He grew up around Rustburg, but he was hardly ever there as he always played the guitar with the bands he played with. Roy knew no stranger and had so many friends it would be impossible to count them all.
He will always be loved and never forgotten.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at a later date.
If you are a friend of Roy’s, you can still hear him saying “Testing one, two”.
