Henry Earl Trent, aka Goodwrench, of Charlotte Courthouse, died on Friday, May 23, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born on Oct. 30, 1941 in Charlotte County, where he lived for the majority of his life. He retired from Westvaco Corporation and was a Vietnam Veteran. After retirement, he operated Trent’s Forestry Service for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Patricia O. Trent; his father, John Henry Trent; his mother, Willie Ethal Palmer Trent; and his sisters, Thelma Adams (Larry), Kitty Stearnes (Judge) and Frances Stembridge (Robert).
He is survived by two daughters, Teresa McCormick (James) and Tina Trent (Steven); one son, Tim Trent (Amanda); grandchildren, Beverly Baldwin (David), Caleb Trent (Madeline), Taylor Newcomb (Nicole), Calynn Cruz (Kevin), Dylan Ellington, Maddy Tuck (Sully), Sydney Tuck and Kirstyn McCormick; a great granddaughter, Paisley Montgomery; great- grandson, Josh Baldwin; and his four-legged companion, Angel.
Daddy loved to fish, hunt, and tell stories. Those that knew him knew that he liked a good joke and talking to his good friends, Man Dunn, Jerry Ridgeway and Dale Carwile. He loved his children and grandchildren above anything else and was instrumental in spoiling all grandkids.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel in Brookneal with interment in Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery in Brookneal. Condolences may be expressed at http://www.JeffressFuneralHome.com.
