Homecoming, revival starts: Calendar for the week of July 10

The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@TheCharlotteGazette.com.

JULY 13

PACK THE PEW – Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 125 Shiloh Church Road in Drakes Branch, will hold a Pack the Pew service on Sunday, July 13, beginning at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served afterward. There will be funnel cakes, a cake walk and more. 

HOMECOMING – Aspen Hill Baptist Church, located at 515 Francisco Road in Brookneal, will hold homecoming services on Sunday, July 13. That will take place in the 11 a.m. service with Rev. Maurice Finney. 

JULY 14 – 16

REVIVAL – Aspen Hill Baptist Church, located at 515 Francisco Road in Brookneal, will hold revival services July 14 through July 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. nightly. The guest minister will be Minister Troy Walker of Triumph Baptist Church. 

JULY 15 

BLOOD DRIVE – Midway Baptist Church will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, July 15, running from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

JULY 16 

MUSEUM TOURS — The Central High Museum will be open for tours from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16. The museum is located at 401 Thomas Jefferson Highway in Charlotte Court House.

JULY 23 

SUMMER STORYTIME – The Charlotte County Library will hold Summer Storytime at its Keysville branch on Wednesday, July 23, beginning at 11 a.m. The library is located at 300 King Street. 

JULY 24 

SOLAR HEARING – The Charlotte County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the requested conditional use permit for Taro Solar. That will take place at 7 p.m. at the Charlotte County Administrative Office, located at 250 LeGrande Avenue, Suite A in Charlotte Court House.  

JULY 27

FUN DAY FISH FRY — The Buffalo Soldiers MC will hold a fish fry on July 27, including music, an on-site DJ, a fun house and raffles. This will be held at the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located at 730 Lunenburg Drive in Keysville. Hot dogs, chips and a drink will be $5, a fish sandwich and drink will be $8 and a fish plate will be $12

JULY 28

SUMMER STORYTIME — The Charlotte County Library will hold Summer Storytime at its Wylliesburg branch on Monday, July 28, beginning at 10 a.m. The library is located on Highway 15.

AUGUST 17 

AFTERNOON OF PRAISE – Ash Camp Church in Keysville will hold an Afternoon of Praise on Sunday, Aug. 17. The event starts at 2 p.m. and will be followed by a reception. Several local musicians will share their talents and love of God. This is a fundraiser, with proceeds going to needed maintenance and repair of the church.
