Elvin Vernon Venable, 83 of Charlotte Court House, passed away on July 23, at the residence. She was the daughter of the late Loran and Lorena Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Lee and James Venable; two sisters, Velma Odell Williams and Marion Jackson Garnail; nephew, Rodney Williams; niece, Chantay Taylor; and great nephew, Joel Taylor.
Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Rita Witcher and Michelle Venable of the home; son, Roger Venable of Valley Stream, New York; four grandchildren, Lamaria Oliver (James), Alvin Witcher Jr., Candise Wilson and Jasmine Wilson; great grandchildren, Dashawn Newkirk, Jadon Oliver, Jakal Oliver and Jaida Wilson; two great-great grandchildren, Na’Riyah and Ja’laiyah Newkirk; sisters, Frances Robinson (Floyd) of Butner, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Rev. William Venable (Florine) of Halifax; sister-in-law, Minerva Venable of Pamplin; aunt, Vernell Clark of Phenix; uncles, Prucell Jackson (Beverly) of Charlotte Court House and Cecil McFarland of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, at 1 p.m. at Nazareth Baptist Church with interment in the Old Henry Presbyterian Cemetery in Randolph. Public viewing will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home in Charlotte Court House. Condolences may be expressed at www.JeffressFuneralHome.com.
