Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity softball team has been on the losing end of some lopsided scores this season, but not so on Good Friday. Though the Lady Statesmen lost to visiting Bluestone High School on the day, they went down fighting, falling 20-17.

“I am so proud of these girls,” R-H Head Coach D.J. Jack said, referring to his team’s many offensive contributors. “They knew we needed to hit if we were going to have a chance to win, and they came out on fire.”

Lady Statesmen senior Casey Arrington had three hits, and junior Sarah Wilmoth had two, both doubles, and a walk and one RBI. Senior Anna Pasciuta logged two hits, a walk and one RBI, senior Anna Grace Cary recorded two hits and two walks, sophomore Macie Fannon had a grand slam, giving her four RBIs, sophomore Cheyanne Newcomb registered four hits and an RBI, senior Hannah Pasciuta notched a trio of hits and an RBI, sophomore Leighan Payne had one hit and sophomore Megan Davis had one hit as well.

“I believe (if) we keep working hard and listening to the coaches, good things are on the way,” Jack said.

The Lady Statesmen (0-6) return to the diamond Tuesday when they host Goochland High School at 6 p.m.
