During the last few weeks in the Phenix Elementary School library, Teddy Bears have been the focus for a couple of pre-kindergarten classes.
Teddy Bear finger plays, Teddy Bear songs, books about Teddy Bears, math activities with Teddy Bear counters have been some of the activities the students have participated in during library time. They even went on a “bear hunt.”
To celebrate the end of the unit, Mrs. Alyson Watkins hosted a Teddy Bear Picnic.
The children were invited to bring their favorite Teddy Bear or stuffed animal with them.
The students along with their “special guests” did their favorite Teddy Bear song and then the students were asked to line up all the “guests”. As Watkins described each “guest,” the owner had to get up and retrieve it.
Afterward, everyone got juice and Teddy Grahams. Special guests and children enjoyed the end of a wonderful unit.
