String of break-ins reported

Over the last month, a string of break-ins have been reported in Charlotte County, according to information from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
Scuffletown Grocery Store, located at 5859 Scuffletown Road, was reportedly broken into September 25, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. “The manager found the front door broken when she arrived the next morning. Entry was made by breaking the front door glass. The only items taken were $40 in a jar that was on the counter and several packs of cigarettes,” said the release.
The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect has been identified in this incident and warrants will be served.
On Sept. 8, the release from the Sheriff’s Office said Keysville Family Pawn, located at 9001 Church Street, was broken into.
The release said the front door glass was broken and entry was gained. “There was nothing reported missing,” said the release.
Also in Keysville on September 30, the manager of Family Dollar, located at 640 King St., found the front glass broken when she arrived for work the following morning.
According to the release, video games and headphones were taken.
The release also said the Tastee Freez, located on U.S. Highway 360 in Wylliesburg, was the latest breakin on Oct. 3.
“A passerby saw the front door was broken and called the Sheriff’s Office,” said the release. “Entry was made by breaking the front door glass. A safe was taken that contained approximately $1,200.”
Anyone with information regarding these incidents should call the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 542-5141 and ask to speak with an investigator. “There will be a reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction,” said the release.
