The 12th-seeded Randolph-Henry High School varsity girls volleyball team fell 3-0 to host No. 5 Nandua High School on Thursday evening in the first round of the Region 2A tournament.
The Lady Statesmen traveled five hours one way to play, but the long ride did not keep them from producing a special performance.
“The girls played their best game all season,” Randolph-Henry Head Coach Nikki Elder said. “We lost in three, but all three games were close. I am so proud of how we ended the season.”
The coach noted that her team’s serving percentage was the best it has been.
“Sydney Williams and Morgan Mason were strong on the net with blocks,” Elder said. “Kala Miller and Leighan Payne had several kills/pushes. We had a ton of digs… they just pulled it all together.”
The Lady Statesmen finished the season with a 2-16 overall record, registering 3-0 wins during the regular season over visiting Buckingham County High School and host Prince Edward County High School.
