Choo! Choo! Chug! Chug! Watch out you might see freight in the library at Bacon District Elementary School. The early childhood class has been reading the book “Freight Train” by Donald Crews in the library with Allyson Watkins. Library time has concentrated on color words, positional words and name recognition activities that center around the train topic. Katy Martin, early childhood teacher, and Stacey Towensend, instructional aide; helped each student find individual conductors’ hats scattered throughout the library. Then the students discovered a child-size freight train with an engine, cars and even a red caboose. Additional train stories will be shared with the class in the weeks to come. Appreciation to Jim Watkins who made the train and to Joanne Catron who helped with the train exploration.
