Mrs. Bobby Ann “Barbara” Harris, 72, of Saxe entered eternal rest on Friday, October 11, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Harris was born in Lunenburg County February 11, 1947 to the late Robert Watson and Mabel Worsham Gilbert. She attended Lunenburg County Public Schools, and received her GED from Southside Virginia Community College in 1986. She was a faithful member of Holy Name Church of Jesus in Chase City where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday Schools, President of the Missionary Department, Head of the Kitchen Committee, and was a member of the Usher Board and Choir. Mrs. Harris was previously employed by Jonbil, Russell Stover Candies, and Charlotte County Public Schools where she worked in many capacities including Teacher’s Aide.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Harvey Harris of Saxe; three daughters, Tracy Ferguson (Theodore) of Keysville, Sylvia Gayles of Saxe, and Hope Harris-Gayles (Arnold), of Halifax; one son, Troy Harris (Gwen) of Saxe; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Mildred Eubanks of Keysville, May Bell Holcomb (William) and Dandy “Daniel” Watson (Louise) all of Chase City, and Larry Watson of Fort Mitchell; two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, her church family, and a vast number of loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am., Saturday, October 19, at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City with Bishop Osmond Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
