Randolph-Henry High School’s (R-H) junior varsity (JV) girls volleyball team finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 9-11, including an 8-8 mark in the James River District.
“Overall, I feel the team really came together towards the middle of the season,” Lady Statesmen Head Coach Julianna Reeves said. “When we played teams for the second time this season, we were able to win in two (sets) versus having to play three.”
Reeves pointed to her team’s Oct. 10 home match against Bluestone High School as its best performance of the year. R-H won the match 2-0.
“The team was able to run a good (offense),” the coach said. “The team was making good passes, which led to us (being) able to attack the ball more.”
Comprising the 2019 Lady Statesmen were eight sophomores and three freshmen.
“Having seven returning players to the team was a huge help towards leadership and showing new players the expectations of playing at the JV level,” Reeves said.
