A procession parade for Randolph-Henry High School (RHHS) graduates was held Saturday, May 23, after a group of parents joined together to plan the celebration.

Students gathered with their decorated vehicles at Randolph-Henry High School and drove throughout the county while citizens waved and cheered them along the way.

According to Wendy Rapole, her daughter Alyssa who is a senior at RHHS, was disappointed about missing out on graduation, and other senior activities, since schools have been closed due to COVID-19.

So, the idea of a parade was born.

The seniors needed some type of closure,” Rapole said. “They have missed out on so much due to the pandemic. It is nice to show them that the community understands, and they celebrate their accomplishments with them.”

“I never imagined I’d deliver my first graduation speech on top of a flatbed trailer with our students lined up in cars honking their horns,” new RHHS principal Erin Davis said. “But guess what? It was a lot of fun. Thanks again to our parents, our students, and our wonderful community for coming together to make this happen.”
