Virginia Forestry Association (VFA) President John C. Magruder recently presented the 2020 President’s Award to John R. Gee of Charlotte County.
The VFA President’s Award recognizes individuals who have spent many hours working behind the scenes and above the call of duty to make the Virginia Forestry Association a quality organization.
Since joining VFA in 1999, Gee has been an active and engaged member of the association, serving in various volunteer roles with the Nominations Committee, Awards Committee, Personnel Committee, Budget Committee, and Virginia Forest Political Action Committee Board of Trustees. Gee started the Revenue Enhancement Task Force in 2017 in coordination with the association’s strategic plan to help VFA stay financially aggressive and stable for future generations. He also led the 2020 Virginia Forestry Summit Planning Committee.
During John Magruder’s presidency, Gee served as counsel to President Magruder on association and forestry issues, played a vital role in the search for VFA’s executive director, and was always available to pick up the phone or attend a meeting on the association or community’s behalf.
