Nellie Hamlett Price, 91, of Brookneal passed away Sunday, Jan. 3 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Brookneal. She was the wife of the late Edwin “E.T.” Price. Mrs. Price was born in Charlotte County, May 7, 1929, a daughter of the late Percy Henry Hamlett and Lillie Holt Hamlett. She was a member of Staunton River Baptist Church and a farmer. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Booth (Chris) of Spout Spring; a granddaughter, Carrington Shook (Clay Scruggs) of Phenix; great-grandson, Camden Scruggs; two sisters, Janice Locke of Phenix and Doris Brooks of Brookneal. She was preceded in death by a sister, Earlean Lee and two brothers, Edward H. Hamlett and Clyde H. Hamlett. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Dennis Shaw. Following CDC guidelines those attending the service will be required to wear a facemask and social distance. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal is assisting the family.
