To the Editor:

Following the Dec. 14, 2020 Board of Supervisors meeting, I as a member of the Electoral Board sent an e-mail to Ms. (Kay) Pierantoni in which I expressed the same concerns as those expressed by Mr. Larry Clark at that, and at a subsequent meeting.

I received a lengthy reply which laid out her thinking on the matter but stated that no apology was due us. We exchanged more correspondence, and I ended the exchange by telling her that we would never agree and that I knew that she would never apologize for her remarks.  

I have gone twice to the recording online of the Dec. 14 meeting. There is a notation explaining that there were some technical problems with the recording that night. As best as I can determine, these problems prevent me from hearing her remarks concerning the integrity of us board members. My term on the Electoral Board ended on Dec. 31, 2020 and I requested not to be reappointed. Therefore, I am able to put this episode in my personal history file and not worry about what she believes about me.

Mr. Clark is in a much different position. He continues to be an active member of the Electoral Board and has to interact with both the public and staff from that position. It is important to me to support him in his insistence that statements were made by Ms. Pierantoni that could have led a reader to believe that members of the Electoral Board somehow manipulated funds in order to secure a payment to the detriment of our officers of election.

This is complicated by the problems with the recording made of the meeting that night. Perhaps there is a method for resolving the technical problem, in which case, the words will speak for themselves. 

In the meantime, I want your readers to know that Mr. Clark is a man of character and that no action has been taken by him, or the board, to accept any hazardous working conditions payments that should have gone to our staff.
