Another 600 electrical customers had power restored Tuesday, but approximately 4,300 Charlotte County residents remain without power Wednesday following this past weekend’s ice storm.
All this while the area prepares for a second major ice storm in a week. The next storm is expected to begin early Thursday morning and lasting all day. Up to an inch of ice is expected with this storm.
Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) is working to restore power to the bulk of those who remain without electricity. Of the 4,300 without power, SEC customers represent 3,22 of those. Dominion has 1,010 customers without power in Charlotte County. Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative has 69 customers without power.
Charlotte County represents 13% of SEC’s 25,417 customers without power.
The biggest outage is in the Keysville area where more than 1,600 SEC customers are without in two separate outages.
The county has taken a number of measures and received assistance from several different sources to help those who remain without electricity.
