Charlotte County Public School Superintendent Robbie Mason confirmed Monday, May 10, that an individual at Randolph-Henry High School tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

“Someone tested positive May 2,” Mason said. “Notifications were sent out last week to anyone who may have had close contact with that person.”

Mason said he could not provide specifics on whether the individual was a teacher or a student.

According to Mason, school staff conducted contact tracing once the school was informed of the positive result.

“If there were exposures, those people were notified and told the number of days that they needed to quarantine,” Mason said.

Mason also said he could not divulge how many individuals may have come in contact with the person or how many individuals would need to quarantine.

Acting Piedmont Health District Director Dr. Sulola Adekoya said Monday, May 10, coronavirus cases in the health district were remaining stable with slight fluctuations across the county.

On Monday, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) was reporting 14 new cases in Charlotte County for a cumulative total of 858 since the pandemic began.
