Annie Smith Gregory, 102, peacefully transitioned at her home in Drakes Branch, on Sunday, Aug. 29. She was born on Oct. 25, 1918 in Charlotte Court House, to the late Willie and Mary Randolph Smith. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who touched the lives of many family and friends through her kindness.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Gregory; sons, Willie James and Chester Gregory; sisters, Maggie Atkins, Elizabeth Daniels, Betty Walker and brother, Willie Smith Jr.

She is survived by grandchildren, Michael Gregory, James Darwin Gregory Sr. (Tracey), Russell Gregory (Michelle), Karen Gregory-Williams (Richard) and Sandy Bouldin; great grandchildren, Italia, James D. Jr., Jessica and LaShonda; two daughters-in-law, Charlotte Gregory and Virginia Gregory; goddaughter, Arielle Jones; Joyce Smith, who provided extraordinary care (and kept Annie’s request to provide care for her at home) and host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, at St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch, with interment in the church cemetery. Service of Comfort was provided by Dupee’s Funeral Home, Drakes Branch. Condolences may be expressed at www.dupeefuneralhome.com
