The third annual senior car parade for the graduating class of Randolph-Henry High School (R-H) was held on Saturday, May 7.
Students gathered with their decorated vehicles at R-H and drove throughout the county while citizens waved and cheer them along the way, concluding the parade at Southside Virginia Community College in Keysville.
The senior car parade started in 2020 as a way to allow the community to recognize the seniors and have the spotlight since many events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to parent Holly Skelton the event was going to be discounted this year but students had other ideas.
“We were going to discontinue the event this year since it had been a somewhat normal school year, but several members of the senior class reached out to ask if we were still planning it as they had watched their friends and former schoolmates participate the last two years and were patiently waiting their turn to participate in this new tradition of the senior class.” Skelton said.
