JUNE 18

CANCER SURVIVORS CELEBRATION — The Charlotte County Relay for Life will host a Cancer Survivors Celebration on Saturday, June 18, at Southside Virginia Community College. This event will start at 6 p.m. and will end at dusk. The Celebration will include a dinner catered by Sheldon’s Restaurant, Bingo games and other activities. James “J.D.” Gregory Sr. will be the D.J. and the celebration will end at dusk with a Luminaria display to celebrate our survivors and remember those who lost their cancer battle. JUNETEENTH — On Saturday, June 18, the Central High Museum will celebrate Juneteenth with “Freedom Day” at 10:45 a.m. on the museum grounds. There will be a special performance of “Juba Juba Jubilee” written and directed by Yemaja Jubilee, various community leaders as guest speakers and music by Pastor Derek “The Change Man” Smith and DJ Al “B”. There will be delicious food for sale, museum tours and vendors. African attire is encouraged. All are invited.

JUNE 26

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY — Family and Friends Day will be held at the Triumph Baptist Church on Sunday, June 26, at 11 a.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. Adam Freeman, associate minister at the Old Green Creek Baptist Church in Cumberland. Rev. Freeman resides in Meherrin. A picnic luncheon will be served immediately following the worship service. A Backpack Give-Away of school supplies, games and prizes are some of the activities planned. Everyone is invited to worship and fellowship. The church is located on the Darlington Heights Road in Prince Edward County.

JUNE 28 – 30

REVIVAL — The St. Douglas Baptist Church of Charlotte Court House will be having its annual Revival services on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 28, 29 and 30. Guest Proclaimer is Reverend Loretta Bailey. Worship service begins at 7 p.m. In person or via call-in at 1-657-390-7012. Mask and social distance are required for in-person attendance. All are welcome.

ST. MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch will hold worship services the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 11 a.m. Mask are required. Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.

AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 1426 Estes Road in Chase City. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jason at (434) 944-9100.

ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen will hold worship service the first and third Sundays at 11 a.m. Sunday school will be the first, second, third and fourth Sundays at 9:45 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church will hold services the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.

HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe will hold in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix will have a worship service each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.

MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal will have a worship service each Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
