The students lined up with excitement, along with their families. For the first time since March 2000, Eureka Elementary held a book fair this month. The event ran from Monday, Oct. 3 through Friday, Oct. 7. And on Wednesday, Oct. 5, the fair remained open until 7 p.m., so families could come together and look at everything.

Students, family members and Eureka staff enjoyed both looking at the items for sale as well as making purchases. Mrs. Freeland said she was very thankful for all the volunteers who graciously gave of their time to work the book fair. Without these helpers, the book fair wouldn’t be possible. Proceeds made from the fair will be used to supplement the purchase of books for the library as well as AR prizes and library supplies.

And this wasn’t a one-time event. The next book fair will arrive at the school in March 2023. And since the book fair was open late on Wednesday, Eureka staff provided some other activities as well. Between 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., staff members set up a variety of math activities for families to participate in together in the cafeteria. The activities were hands-on and allowed the students to have fun with their families. At 4:30 p.m., food and drink were available for purchase. Pizza, nachos and cotton candy are a few of the items that were available. At 5:30 p.m., the fifth grade team hosted their annual Family Bingo Night in the gym. More than 300 seats were set up for bingo, but that was not enough as the gym was packed! Everyone appeared to have a great time trying to win a prize.
