Charlotte County has always been known as a hospitable county for members of the community and visitors passing through the area.

Recently, these efforts have been reinforced with the occurrence of a destructive tornado, which ripped through the neighboring community of Evergreen in Appomattox County and several fundraising efforts set forth by various organizations to aid individuals and groups have taken place in Charlotte County.

While many local businesses, civic groups and individual community members are responsible for these ongoing fundraising efforts, Charlotte County residents appear to possess a unique call to duty to help where needed.

Whenever a devastating situation occurs locally, there is no shortage of citizens willing to answer the service call by collecting donations, providing relief efforts or even just offering advice and words of encouragement.

Most recently, a fire occurring in the Red House area of the county saw the teamwork of various departments within the county and neighboring areas.

In addition, the American Red Cross was called in to provide relief efforts, such as water during this devastating incident.

Currently, the Red House Volunteer Fire Department is accepting donations to help the family in light of this incident.

This is just one example of the special bond many Charlotte County residents have when it comes to giving back within the community and helping those in need.

As a small area, it is always best to stick together when obstacles arise.

There is always strength in numbers, and although Charlotte County may not be a huge community, the quality of the citizens living in the area shine a positive beacon of light on the place we call home.
