A year after winning the district tournament, the Randolph-Henry High golf team is picking up where they left off. After this past week, they’re 2-0 again in district play, with a 6-1 record overall.
Their latest competition came against Nottoway and Central High on Thursday, Aug. 10. The Statesmen won with a total score of 160, finishing just ahead of Nottoway at 162 and Central at 205. Leading the way for Randolph-Henry was last year’s Most Improved Player of the Year, Liam Hottle. This time around, Hottle shot a 37 on the course at the Crewe Country Club, which was a Par 36. He was followed by Bryson Francisco’s 39, Parker Allen’s 41, Caden Powell at 43, Danner Allen at 45 and Aiden Bryant at 55.
Last year ended with the Randolph-Henry golf team finishing in the Top Five in Virginia. They claimed first place in the regional tournament, first place in the district tournament and had an undefeated regular season.
