Just before classes started back, staff and school board members from Charlotte County Public Schools held a Pack the Bus event. Parents were able to pick up their child’s school supplies for free. According to Karen Thompson, an instructional data coach with the school district, the event was very successful, with more than three hundred packages picked up by parents. District officials pointed to the help from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department, school district staff and school board members, all of whom organized, packaged and helped distribute the supplies.
