On Monday, Dec. 4, Phenix Elementary fourth and fifth graders had a very special visitor. George Flickenger, Chief Meteorologist for ABC13, spoke to the students about his work as a meteorologist and the importance of weather safety. His presentation was engaging and gave many tips about how to identify severe weather and what actions to take in the face of a weather emergency. The students had discussed weather patterns with Ms. Rudder and came to the presentation with prepared questions. The students and teachers were impressed with Mr. Flickenger’s teaching style, and he was equally impressed with the students, even giving them a shoutout on the news and social media that evening.
