For voters in parts of the area, they’ll go to a different precinct this spring to cast a primary ballot. Three Charlotte County polling places have been relocated, after a vote by county supervisors.
Following a public hearing and vote by the Board of Supervisors, polling places in Charlotte Court House, Phenix, and the Bacon/Saxe Voting Districts have been changed.
According to Director of Elections/General Registrar Jenni Booth, the reason for location changes came from ADA Compliance and having locations more accessible with a generator in case of a power outage or emergency.
The following will now be the new voting locations:
Charlotte Court House Voting District (County Seat) – Relocation from the Town Office at 350 George Washington Hwy., Charlotte Court House, to the Charlotte Court House Volunteer Fire Department at 608 David Bruce Avenue.
Phenix Voting District – Relocation from the Town Office at 6860 Main Street, Phenix, to the Phenix Volunteer Fire Department at 365 Chester Street, Phenix.
Bacon/Saxe Voting District – Relocation from Shiloh Baptist Church at 125 Shiloh Church Road, Drakes Branch, to the new Drakes Branch Volunteer Fire Department and Town Office, at 4801 Drakes Main Street, Drakes Branch.
