On Jan. 2, Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) organized its Professional Development session for all staff members. The day commenced with a light breakfast provided by Subway. Dr. Robbie Mason extended a warm welcome to the staff for the new year, and Mrs. Duffie Jones introduced Dr. McSweeney, Virginia Literacy Partnership through UVA Reading Specialist. Dr. McSweeney addressed the staff on the Virginia Literacy Act and assured them of her availability to assist with any questions or concerns regarding their reading series selection. Mrs. Thompson then dismissed the staff to participate in three 45-minute sessions conducted by CCPS’s staff members and administrators. After a lunch break, the staff reconvened for an afternoon of collaboration and textbook review. The staff embraced the day, reconnecting with their CCPS family through hugs, laughter and collaborative efforts.
