Steve DuVal, creator of The Bedford Area Community Dance and Social Experiment, visited Randolph-Henry on Feb. 27 to teach square dancing to physical education students.
“I’m interested in introducing square dancing to kids in schools, and I’ve read what I can find on SOLs and physical education curriculums and getting kids to socialize,” DuVal said.
During Mr. Barmoy’s Physical Education classes, DuVal introduced different rhythmic moments and went on to say that “most people don’t know that square dancing is active in about 30 different countries.”
Randolph-Henry staff said they appreciated the effort.
“We appreciate Mr. DuVal for coming and introducing this old, but new style of dancing to our students,” Randolph-Henry Principal Erin Davis said.
