They’re baaaack! Actually they never went away. As I sit and write this large trucks are continuing to travel along Cabbage Patch. So far this afternoon there have been a number of log trucks, both loaded and empty, going both ways. At least one carrying a 40’ shipping container, three carrying heavy construction equipment, three box trucks, one oil tanker, and several empty flat beds. Once two trucks going opposite directions came to a stop and performed a dance as they passed each other!

Last week VDOT placed a sign at the intersection of US 15 and Cabbage Patch asking traffic to not travel down Cabbage Patch. Without a police officer issuing tickets most trucks will ignore the sign. Strategically placing concrete barriers where cars and ambulances can get through but not tractor trailer rigs will make it clear that Cabbage Patch is off limits.
