Heading into this racing season, Jordaine Penick said one of her goals was to finish in the Top Five more often. So far, she’s off to a good start. In three races, Penick has finished in the Top Five each time, with this past weekend being no different.
It was Cameron Goble of Ringgold taking the checkered flag in Saturday afternoon’s 20-lap race in the HEAT Hornets Division. Jason DeCarlo from Chase City finished second, with Steven Layne of Halifax in third, Penick, from Meherrin, in fourth and Landon Milam of Keeling wrapping up the Top Five.
Penick will have another chance to keep her streak alive on Saturday, May 4, when the Hornets Division returns to South Boston Speedway for the God’s Pit Crew Race Night. The first race is set for 7 p.m.
