R-H quiet in JRD field events

The Randolph-Henry High School girls track team produced nine points to hold sixth place out of seven scoring teams following the conclusion of the field events portion of the 2016 James River District Track and Field Championships on Monday at Nottoway High School.
The boys team for Randolph-Henry did not produce any points on the day.
Leading the way for the Lady Statesmen was senior Kiera Dodd in the throwing events. She accounted for all of her team’s points with her second-place finish in the discus throw and her sixth-place finish in the shot put.
Randolph-Henry senior Chris Powell placed ninth in the shot put, while junior Harmon Boyd took 10th in the triple jump and junior Mitch Dunn took 10th in the discus throw.
Statesmen junior Quadre Pulliam claimed 11th in the discus throw and 12th in the shot put.
Placing 13th was Boyd in the long jump and senior Deon Shuford in the triple jump.
Lady Statesmen junior JaKya Pettus took 15th in the shot put, and junior Katia Taylor placed 16th in the discus throw.
The running events portion of the district track and field championships is set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prince Edward County High School.
