Taylor celebrates 100th birthday

The family of Geneva K. Taylor celebrated her turn of the century birthday. On Friday, Oct. 4, Geneva K. Taylor turned 100 years old. Her family celebrated this momentous occasion by throwing her a birthday celebration on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Bluestone Harmony Center in Keysville. Born Geneva Odessa Woodson, Geneva was born to the late Willie Arthur and Littie Byrd Mayo Woodson in Pittsylvania County. She is the fifth and last living child of eight children. Her siblings were as follows, oldest sister Rosa followed by Bee, Fannie, Pringle, herself, Earnest, Leon and Dora. She was wed in young adulthood to Luther Knott and to this union she has two daughters, LouEllen Allen of Drakes Branch and Dorothy Robinson (Bob – deceased) of Washington D.C. She has three grandchildren Robert Robinson Jr. (Karen) of Washington D.C., the late Stephanie L. Allen and Marilyn Robinson Burton of Seat Pleasant, Maryland. She has 9 great-grandchildren: Ieisha, Shannon, Mia, Keyshawn “Ben”, Crystal, Mekhi, Sydney, Leah and Olivia. She also has a host of nieces and nephews.
