Tyree Craddock, 58, of Red Oak, turned himself into prison on Friday after a warrant was filed for his arrest, charging him with involuntary manslaughter and DUI nearly seven months after the initial two-vehicle accident on Jan. 19.

Involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence is considered a class five felony punishable with a maximum 10-year prison sentence and $2,500 fine.

In Craddock’s first hearing on Feb. 4, he faced a single DUI charge which ended nolle prosequi because the prosecution wanted to wait until they could raise the charge, according to Virginia State Trooper D. A. Thompson, the case’s arresting officer. The prosecution abandons pursuit of legal action in a case ruled nolle prosequi.

After receiving more evidence, including a report from the medical examiner, the warrant was placed, said Thompson.

The Jan. 19 accident led to the death of Irving L. Goode, 46, of Wylliesburg due to injuries sustained in the crash at approximately 7:15 p.m. the night of the crash on Route 608. Goode’s vehicle contained three passengers, all of whom survived and were treated for injuries at the hospital, according to state police.

The previous charge of DUI, as a first offense, had a minimum five-day prison sentence, one-year license suspension and a minimum $250 fine.
