Quincy Louis Thompson Sr.

On August 9, 2016, Quincy Louis Thompson Sr. entered peacefully into eternal rest and journeyed on to be with the Lord. One of 15 children, he was the son of the late Wilburt and Lottie Venable Thompson born on May 10, 1940, in Drakes Branch, Va.
Quincy proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War. Over the years, Quincy worked various jobs, among being employed with Pettus Motor Company, Burlington Industries, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department, Town of Drakes Branch and Dupee’s Funeral Home.
Some of the organizations he was involved with included the Sheriff’s Association, Charlotte Lodge No. 146, Volunteer Firefighter and the Rescue Squad. He enjoyed catering, bartending for various events and fishing with family and friends. Quincy was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburt and Lottie Thompson; daughter, Darlene Eva Thompson; sisters, Alice Haskins, Ann Simpson, Rosetta Walton; and brothers Johnnie, Walter, Herbert and Wilburt McKinley Thompson. He leaves to cherish many memories, a loving and devoted family, children, Marsha Pugh (Robert), Quincy Thompson Jr. (Gloria), Arlene Thompson, Beverly Eubans and Tracey Thompson; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Lenora Gilmore and Lottie Butts; brothers, Thomas, Howard, Fred, Phillip and Jesse Thompson; sisters-in-law, Mildred, Gerri Barbara and Thelma Thompson; brother-in-law, James Simpson; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Red House, VA.
Interment with military rites, Drakes Branch Fire Department tribute and Masonic rites in the church cemetery.
