William Wayne Duffie

William Wayne Duffie, 74, of Saxe, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
He was born on April 20, 1942.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, William Duffie; mother, Nanny Dolly Foster; and step-father, Kermit Foster.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Jenny Davis (Tim), of Charlotte Court House, and Penni Horvath (Andy), of Drakes Branch; brother, Hagood Duffie, of Saxe; six grandchildren, Erika Condrey (Cody), of Green Bay, Hannah Davis, of Meherrin, Tim Davis Jr., of Meadow Lands, PA, A.J. Horvath, of Drakes Branch, Derek Horvath (Renee), of Prospect, and Kalyn Mehaffey, of Lynchburg; and great-grandchild, Addison Condrey, of Green Bay.
Wayne worked as a certified welder for Norfolk Southern for most of his life. He also was the owner and head mechanic of Duffie’s Garage, in Saxe.
Many knew him as Santa Claus, as he held a community Christmas function at his cabin for many years where he gave toys to local children.
Wayne enjoyed working on his farm and fishing.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Sept. 24, at his home near his pond under two his two cedar trees as he wished.
