Four members of the Randolph-Henry High School varsity wrestling team placed at The Agie Skeens Memorial Tournament in Grundy on Dec. 27-28, while all 10 Statesmen who participated gained valuable experience competing against impressive opponents.
Senior Chris Nichols placed third in the 126-pound weight class, senior Michael Nichols claimed fifth in the 132-pound class, junior Caleb Calhoun placed seventh in the 285-pound class and senior Franklin Morton Jr. took eighth in the 195-pound class.
Though they did not place, some other Statesmen recorded wins, including senior Zach Tharpe in the 120-pound class, freshman Chandler Newcomb in the 138-pound class and freshman Danny Parrish in the 182-pound weight class.
Watching and competing at the event alone afforded the R-H wrestlers key experience, including senior John Walker, sophomore Billy French and freshman Travis Adams.
