Events offer unity for community

For as long as I can remember, traditional Easter egg hunts have been a major part of the Easter holiday. Growing up when I was younger, several churches and community civic groups would hold Easter egg hunts as a way to strengthen community bonds.
While I may not have really understood the significance at the time, I certainly enjoyed running around with my friends finding delicious candies to eat on for the next couple of weeks.
Additionally, even individual families in the neighborhood would host Easter egg hunts for the children.
Over the next couple of weeks, Charlotte County residents have a vast amount of opportunities available to enjoy Easter egg hunts.
Some of the events will take place at churches or places of business.
For example, Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation will host an Easter egg hunt on Saturday at 2 p.m.
As a participant of this event in the past, I believe it is especially unique because I have noticed the enjoyment from residents of Wayland and the children alike. This year, the event is even scheduled to include the Easter Bunny and prizes.
These events are irreplaceable in our community and there are an abundance to choose from, regardless of which end of the county you may reside in. For a complete listing, be sure to visit the community calendar section of this edition.
Many of the events in Charlotte County will also provide refreshments or a short service following the event. This can be a wonderful teaching tool for our community.
According to Merriam Webster, Easter is described as “a Christian church festival that celebrates the return of Jesus Christ to life following his death; also, the Sunday in early spring on which this festival is observed.”
As the seasons change and the holiday approaches, comfort can be found in the symbolism of a new beginning.
Let us celebrate the significance of this holiday and strengthen our bonds as a community.
