On Friday, May 12, Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) will host its third-annual Opportunity Fund Golf Classic at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville.

According to a press release, “the tournament supports scholarships for students whose parents or legal guardians are served by SEC.”

“In 2016, the Southside Opportunity Fund was created and earned a 501(c)3 designation. Last year’s golf event raised more than $14,000. This year, the fund will continue to award $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors.”

According to the release, registration for the captain’s choice tournament will run from 8:45-9:45 a.m., with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. “A foursome package includes carts, range balls and a boxed lunch with three drink tickets per golfer, all for $400.”
