September 14
DAR MEETING, 5:30 p.m. at Farmville Presbyterian Church in Farmville. The guest speaker will be Jennings Custis, history and government teacher at Fuqua School. The topic will be “The Virginia Signers of the Constitution.”
September 15
POW-MIA DAY, 11 a.m. at the Charlotte County Administration Building lawn. This event is hosted by the Charlotte County VFW Post 8902. Guest speaker will be Greg Eanes.
PANCAKE SUPPER, 5-7 p.m. at Lebanon United Methodist Church in Drakes Branch. Girl Scout Troop 1154 is sponsoring the supper and will be taking donations for hurricane relief.
September 16
A MUSICAL HEART BANQUET, 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Keysville. The Sunday School youth will collect proceeds for a building fund. The event will include signing and praise dancing. Dinner will be served.
September 17
HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at Phenix United Methodist Church. Sheila Schaefer will provide the music. A covered dish luncheon will follow the service. Everyone is invited.
CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 4 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church.
MISSIONARY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Morrison Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Angela Cook, associate pastor of Salem Baptist Church, will be the guest preacher along with the Salem choir. All are invited.
September 18
SUBWAY CASHOLA NIGHT, 4-8 p.m. at Subway in Keysville. This event is sponsored by the Randolph-Henry Band Boosters and will support the Randolph-Henry Marching Statesmen.
September 22
BLOCK PARTY, 4-7 p.m. at Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Keysville. The event will feature a bouncy house, dunking booth, barrel cars, Child ID service provided by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, food for sale and more.
TOWN HALL MEETING, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church in Drakes Branch. This event is sponsored by Tri-County Community Action to discuss enrollment of Commonwealth Coordinated Care Virginia Medicaid Managed Care Program. Refreshments will be provided. Medicaid recipients, family members and residents are encouraged to attend.
September 30
BENEFIT RIDE, 9:30 a.m. at the Drakes Branch Pavilion. Southside Buffalo Soldiers will sponsor this ride for fallen Buffalo Soldier George Roberts. Cost is $15 per rider and $5 per passenger. Proceeds will assist with son Jacoby Roberts. For more information, call (804) 665-8860.
October 7
OPPORTUNITY FUND SKEET CLASSIC, 8 a.m. at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox for graduating high school seniors in Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) service area. The individual registration fee for the skeet shoot is $75, while squads of five can sign up for $325. All participants must provide their own guns and ammunition, and skeet shooters of all levels are welcome. The event is limited to the first 50 participants, who must register in advance. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 26. Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available for businesses and individuals who’d like to support this event.
