Vote for change

Dear Editor,
The elections are near and it is time to choose those who will represent us. Voting is the time to put principles before party and look at issues. Those already in office have a track record that should be looked at. Have their votes reflected better schools, more jobs, and time spent with their constituents?
Those running against them should have a platform that reflects the needs of our community.
Jamaal Johnston is running for the House of Delegates in the 60th District, which incorporates Prince Edward, Charlotte, Halifax and part of Campbell County.
He is a small-business owner, married father of four who is running to bring a different approach to Southside Virginia government. A working class approach that will support small businesses, improve the technology in our schools, support free community college, support funding for public schools and ensure that health care is available to all of us.
Most important, his campaign has not been funded by his own wealth or that of corporate donors who expect his vote in return, but by individuals who believe that he should be working for us. And he will.
Vote for change. Vote for Jamaal. Most importantly, vote.
