County clarifies boundary lines

The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors (BOS) has approved a joint resolution between Charlotte and Lunenburg County that will clear up some confusion about the voting locations for Charlotte and Lunenburg County citizens.

According to county documents, the State Board of Elections found that some citizens were voting in the wrong county, and now there’s a need to clarify the boundary line between the two counties.

So, Charlotte and Lunenburg County officials have looked at Geographic Information System (GIS) maps and United States Geological Survey (USGS) topographic maps to figure out where specific properties are actually located.

County documents show that some 51 properties were affected near Southside Virginia Community College.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Boundary lines are super important for things like voting, taxes, schools, emergency response, and land use regulations.
