Fire Department receives grant

Drakes Branch Fire and Rescue has received a $2,500 grant from Dominion Energy through the Virginia State Firefighters Association. Dominion Energy created this program to assist volunteer fire departments across the commonwealth. This year 20 departments received grants. A Dominion spokesman stated they recognized the crucial role that volunteers have in saving lives and property. Drakes Branch is the first volunteer department to receive the grant. The department plans to use grant funds to purchase much needed equipment.
