Flora Fest returns to Charlotte County this coming weekend

It’s that time again: Flora Fest is just around the corner. This Saturday, April 29, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Charlotte County Extension Office. That’s located at 133 Legrande Avenue in Charlotte Court House.

It also looks like the weather will cooperate for this edition. According to the National Weather Service, we’re supposed to have cloudy skies but no rain or wind gusts during the day.

As for the event. Extension officials say it will be a wonderful time to spend outdoors with the family, perusing the various offerings the extension has for sale, and getting some fresh air and new plants in the process.

Available for purchase will be various plant varieties, including full sun and shade loving plants, houseplants of all kinds, perennials, annuals, and shrubs. All of the plants offered for sale are locally grown and are being sold at affordable prices. This will undoubtedly boost the local economy while adding beauty to your landscaping.

The event typically brings in a large crowd, and locals look forward to perusing the various offerings available year after year. This is a great way to usher in spring, spruce up your front yard, or get your backyard garden off to a great start at affordable prices. Those who garden often know how expensive it can get; this event will help alleviate the burden off of overspending while getting quality, locally grown plants.

Other activities at Flora Fest

In addition to the plants available for purchase, there will be activities for children, such as a craft station where they will be able to choose between making a fairy garden or chia pet. This ensures there is something to do for the whole family.

Last, but certainly not least, there will be a drawing with raffle tickets for various items, such as a gardening kit, bird house, and a homemade pottery planter.  The prizes would make a wonderful addition to any spring garden, or a wonderful gift for a friend.

For more information, you can contact the Charlotte County Extension Office at 434-542-5884.
