Barbara Ann Brown Pillow

Barbara Ann Brown Pillow, 91 of Phenix, passed away Saturday, July 2, at Heartland ProMedica Skilled Nursing in Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late Hugh David Pillow.

Barbara Ann was born April 6, 1931, a daughter of the late William Francis Brown and Mary Harris Brown. She was a member of Staunton River Baptist Church, the Red Hill Garden Club and was a former supervisor at Basset-Walker.

She is survived by three sons, Joel Michael Pillow (Wanda) of Aspen, Jonathan Wayne Pillow (Marina) of Lynchburg and Gregory Alan Pillow (Sherri) of Aspen; three daughters, Jacquelyn P. Hudson (Danny Harris) of Rustburg, Gwendolyn Pillow Phelps (Raymond) of Appomattox and Kimberly Pillow Epperson (Roger) of Rustburg; sisters, Shirley Brown Dudley (C.W.), Linda Brown Hamlett (Elton); sister-in-law, Gretchen Brown; 14 grandchildren, Michael Shane Pillow, Chad Malcom Pillow, Marsha England, Serina Hawkins, Jennifer, Christopher, and Jason Phelps, Deana Moses, Jennifer Cunningham, Bryan, Kevin, and Hanna Pillow, Courtney Brown and Cole Pillow; 25 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lily, Haylee, Amber, Ashley, Jenny, Stephen, Haley, Summer, Ryan, Jillian, Carter, Alex, Gabe, Jetts, Brixton, Allison, Katie, Laila, Alaina, Chevrolet, Conway, Nevaeh, Jaxon and Breanna and five great-great grandchildren, Avery, Ava, Riley, Luke, and Bambi.

She was preceded in death by a son, William David Pillow; a grandson, Michael Phelps; a granddaughter, Caitlyn Pillow and a brother, William “Bill” Brown.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland for taking care of Barbara as if she were their very own mother or grandmother. The kindness and love shown to her will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 7, at Staunton River Baptist Church, by the Rev. Rick Dellinger and the Rev. Mike Teixeira with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.
