Sandy Overby Flynn

Sandy Overby Flynn, 67, was called home to be with the Lord on May 8. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Danny Albert Flynn, and three children, Chase Edward Flynn, Dustin Nathaniel Flynn and wife, Kathryn, and Casey Marie Flynn. 

Born on July 23, 1956, to Frank Powell Overby and Aro Rickmond, she was the youngest of three children. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Wayne Overby and wife, Rita; and a sister-in-law, Julie Overby. 

She is preceded in death by her brother, Danny Ray Overby. 

Sandy earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education from Longwood University. She loved sharing her knowledge with others as she taught many grade levels at Charlotte County Public Schools. She was an exceptional teacher for 36 years and genuinely loved her profession. She was also a faithful member of Ash Camp Baptist Church and passionately shared the story of Jesus with her community. She was actively involved in Ash Camp’s children’s ministry. She made a tremendous impact on her community and lovingly served the Lord in all aspects of her life. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 10, at Ash Camp Baptist Church at 2 p.m, interment will follow in Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery. Her family will host a public visitation at the church on Thursday, May 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Barksdale Cancer Foundation at P.O. Box 225, Charlotte Court House, VA 23923. 

The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville is in charge of arrangements.
